CANVAS INTERIORS LATELY: LETS GO TO MILL VALLEY

Today lets head to a place near and dear to my heart... Mill Valley Ca. where I have spent many a cozy evening tucked in to a comfy sofa with dear friends and wine. This is one of my most happy places. If I were designing a home in Mill Valley it would be a little polished, a little undone, and decidedly comfy.

Here is a collection of Canvas Interiors pieces that echo the spirit of this most special place. Take a look at our other collections as well. They are designed to help you shop with ease. We collect, curate, edit ... so you can spend more time curled up on a comfy sofa with wine.

CANVAS INTERIORS LATELY: GETTING COZY

I stepped outside today and there was a slight chill (I use the word 'chill' loosely) in the FL air.  I have an urge to make chili.  I have a cold. It must be fall.

The easiest way to embrace fall in your home is shift the color palette slightly. A few touches of charcoal and ivory and the warmth factor goes up.  People will linger, snuggle up and drink tea under these cozy throws and pillows.

If you are looking for a big statement, our Hampton sofa is a must see.  At $1,699, this made-by-the- same-manufacturer-that makes-some-other-big-name-brands sofa is one to watch.

Check out these easy accents from Canvas Interiors. All of these lovely goods are available either in store or online.

WHERE DID THE SUMMER GO?

It is hard to believe we already have a week of homework under our belts here Chez K.  I must admit though, I do love the idea of fall and all that comes with it. Namely sweaters and boots.  But for now I will tempt you with the Canvas Interiors Labor Day Floor Model sale.

Check us out online  or visit one of our 3 locations (Jacksonville, Altamonte Springs and Winter Park FL). There is some seriously awesome stuff marked down. Like the lovely goods you see in the pictures. Floor models, one of a kinds... they go fast folks!

If you have any questions please email the store directly at

CANVAS INTERIORS LATELY: FEATHER YOUR NEST WITH OUR SUMMER SALE

The Canvas Interiors Summer Sale is in full swing and you can shop it from afar by going to our website 'clearance' section.

Some are floor models (final sale), some overstock, some discontinued items.  A few of my personal favorites are on sale like the Rachel table (named after watching far too much E! TV where I noticed a certain celebrity stylist has this in her bedroom) and the Wilson bar cart (named after friends who do a flawless cocktail party).

All of these goodies below are included in the sale so pop on over to the website or visit the Jacksonville, Altamonte Sprints or Winter Park (FL) locations if you see something you like.

Feel free to email hello@canvasinteriors with any questions and our lovely design consultants will get back to you asap.

CANVAS INTERIORS LATELY

With the Memorial Day weekend ahead I am excited to think of easy breezy summer days and nights. This is how I picture our 'someday beach house'. Until that someday arrives, I get my yayas out at Canvas Interiors dreaming up vibes of summer. Could this be your beach house? Or could you turn your city house in to a permanent summer retreat?

The sectional is modular which is a great option for tailoring the size to your space. And the slipcovers are washable. Slipcovers are key to low stress beach living. Sandy feet? check.  Chocolate ice cream on the fingers? check. Freshly showered kids tucked in on the sofa watching a movie? check.  Mamma has wine? check.

CANVAS INTERIORS LATELY

Popping in today with some images I've been shooting around Canvas Interiors lately. I love this exercise of editing my favorites to share with you here. It is slightly meditative for me to put these together and it gives a good snapshot of what is on the floor.

I hope you are enjoying your day and as always, if you have any questions about anything you see please feel free to email hello@canvasinteriors.com  and someone will get back to you right away.

You can see our entire collection on our website - Canvas Interiors. Thanks for stopping by today!

IF CANVAS INTERIORS WAS A HOTEL

I stumbled upon images of this hotel on AD and immediately fell in love. If Canvas Interiors was a hotel, this would be it. The 1 Hotel + Residences in South Beach.

New York Design firm Meyer Davis transformed the old Gansevoort hotel in to this understated and truly eco-conscious oasis. Starwood Hotel Group created the new brand 1 Hotels, developed by Barry Sternlicht,  the creative force behind the W Hotels and St. Regis hotel brands. The idea of taking a concept from a germ of an idea to a full blown brand statement like this one is something that I truly get excited by. Beyond a brand, this hotel group philosophically believes in doing things differently in order to preserve our natural surroundings.  Read more about that here

Canvas Interiors was that germ of an idea and to see something like this hotel gets my creative juices flowing even more. It is so exciting to see passion for an idea come to life.  After working in advertising for so long and producing work that comes and goes - it is really awesome to make an idea come to life. And stay. Bricks and mortar, a place people can come to gather. A place that reflects a lifestyle. So. Fun.

This is inspiring and gets my creative wheels turning. Now if only I could find a 70's condo to gut and re-do. And perhaps open a Canvas Interiors in South Beach? Hmmmm... now there is the germ of an idea.

CANVAS INTERIORS LATELY

This past month has seen a lot of activity in our Canvas Interiors family.  We've completed an update to our first baby, our store in Altamonte Springs, opened a new location in Winter Park and hosted a Lee  event in our Jacksonville location.

We have hosted parties, lunches with the fun and fab India Hicks, and have more party planning up our sleeves. All in all it has been a fantastic whirlwind of growth, change and most of all fun.

Thanks for coming along!

We've added John Robshaw bedding to the mix, I stashed a few of my white vintage vases in our black Canterbury cabinet, we've used the heck out of our Aqua bar and have put just about anything we can on our MC mirrored tray.

Personally I can't wait for the next shindig.

JOHN ROBSHAW BEDDING AT CANVAS INTERIORS

Popping in today with a few snaps from yesterday. We are so very happy to be carrying John Robshaw bedding at Canvas Interiors. A perfect partner to our laid back lux, casual aesthetic.

We picked two color stories that can be combined in gorgeous combinations. Lavendar and Navy. Timeless and classic when you add grey and casual cotton throws and sublimely soft quilts.

Mix it in to your existing white sheets, add a throw pillow to the sofa or a hand painted sweet pair of elephants. Endless fun with John Robshaw.

Available in our Winter Park location.

If you would like to order anything you see here please email the store at hello@canvasinteriors.com

LUNCH WITH INDIA HICKS

Heartfelt fun was had last Thursday at a luncheon to celebrate the launch of India Hick's new business venture. We hosted a gathering of 40 friends at our new venture - Canvas Interiors in Winter Park FL.

As you may or may not know Mr. K and I have soft spot for a particular island in the Bahamas.  As a longtime lover of and visitor to Harbour Island, I understand where India lives. I can tell you that the beetle you see on her packaging means something to her. That the fragrance and body care products are reminiscent of the island.

India's new line of products are luxurious and approachable. Well crafted and affordable. These traits are a direct reflection of who she is and the path she has taken to get here. From a life imbued with tradition and history to family life on an island in the Bahamas you feel her sense of adventure and that her journey has shaped her unique sensibilities.

Her natural charm combined with her ambition to stand on her own two feet have met in full force in her new lifestyle brand.  India has taken what is special about her past and present and put it into this collection.

Passionate about empowering women to live life on their own terms India is forgoing the traditional shopping experience and creating a network of entrepreneurial women selling the line in their own homes.

We had a lot of laughs, drank some wine and shopped. Look at our sweet friend K below getting a hands-on tassel tutorial from India.

To host her here in our new venture, Canvas Interiors was a poignant and warm experience. I feel a kindred spirit with India and admire her drive. We brought together a fantastic group of people. Women blazing new trails, working hard, creating something. It was a perfect fit.

IT WAS GRAND

We had a very fun and genuinely special opening night for our 3rd Canvas Interiors location in Winter Park FL.  We are so grateful to our good friends and Canvas Interiors staff for the love and excitement that we felt throughout the night.

The store is housed in what was once an old lumberyard. There is history and raw beauty in the building and we strived to convey that with the renovation.  It feels light and loft like and a perfect fit for our brand vision. A little polished, a little undone, and real.

It was a fantastic experience and we are so excited to launch our third location in our own backyard. Thank you friends for making it such a wonderful night.

COLLECTIONS AND REFLECTIONS

From fashion week posts to flea markets thats how I roll. This is my collection of white (go figure) flea market pottery that I have been amassing since I lived in LA and got the Rose Bowl Flea Market bug. That would put me at about age 23. No need to do the math but suffice it to say this collection has been with me for a long time.  In fact this image below is from my apartment in SF circa early 2000's.

Bold move - I took the collection to Canvas Interiors to house flowers for our 3rd location's Grand Opening party tonight.  It feels strange not to have my little white vases greeting me at home. Our Manager Joanne says I may never get them back.

Good thing I am getting up at the crack of dawn to go to Rennigers Flea Market Extravaganza the morning after our opening party (!) The timing of all of this is interesting. This collection has never left my nest and now it sits in Canvas Interiors full of flowers. Almost as if the collecting by my younger self was leading to this Canvas Interiors moment.

My passions and creative energy helped me create my nest on a budget when I was just starting out in my 20's in LA.  My current 'wiser' self is still nesting and looking forward to a flea market score of more... you guessed it... white pottery.

The message here: stay true to your style, your creativity and your resourcefulness no matter what the budget.  From a $20 white vase to my beloved white Tee's to now Canvas Interiors, white and light has always been how I express my style. It is fun to look back see my past self informing my future self. Long ago collected pieces sitting in a new venture, our 3rd Canvas Interiors location.

Deep thoughts for a Thursday.

CANVAS INTERIORS WINTER PARK

I love popping in to the store (especially now that our new location is a mile from our house) the day after a delivery truck unloads.  I am headed there now to see what arrived yesterday but in the meantime here are some snaps from recent days.

Our website is shopable and most items are in stock and ready to deliver so if you see something here that strikes your fancy take a look at our website or follow me on instagram on the Canvas Interiors page.

CANVAS INTERIORS WINTER PARK

Well folks, we are pretty much ready. The floor is starting to feel lived in, the vibe is coming together and we are excited.

As for blogging this week, it seems my desktop has decided to send me into an Apple update software spiral (nightmare) loop including my computer freezing to a completely black screen. I iPhoto has crashed and Numbers refuses to open. So... excuse the lack of posts the next day or two while I untangle my digital world with an Apple genius.

Genius timing I might add while I aggregate Numbers' spread sheets and work on our grand opening party invite using images that are in, yes, iPhoto.  Fun times!

CANVAS INTERIORS #3

When Mr. K and I started cooking up the idea for Canvas Interiors the picture in my head was always full of natural light.  Loft-like light in an old building that we gut and paint white.  And that is exactly what has happened in store #3.
Here is a sneak peek at the progress thus far and a little glimpse of where the building started.  I can't wait to show you more when the finishing touches are in place.

little details being put in place and in the bottom right you get a glimpse of one of two garage doors that were added to open the space up.

More soon! In the meantime you can follow me on Instagram for both the blog and the store to see more.

WINTER WHITE

By now its no secret that I love white. I walked into Canvas Interiors yesterday and was so excited to see a subtle shift in the floor that really made it feel like a sea of dreamy white sofas. I just wanted to sink in and stay awhile. But car pool awaited. I snapped a few quick shots and ran. The feeling of light and bright stayed with me though.

In the spirit of my favorite color, I put together this collection which you can find on our website.

White accents, shiny bits, a little silver - put it all together and your home will glimmer.  A good place to be.

You can see this and other lovely goods on our website here.

BLACK AND WHITE

One of the best things about starting with a white palette is that you can add anything to it. Of course my favorite thing to mix in is black. So simple and elegant, these pieces from Canvas Interiors can add just the right touch.

This post was sparked by my post on grey floors (see here). Light washed grey floors, white sofas and chairs and black accents always look smashing together.

Here are my current favs in our store right now:

GATHER

We had our first large gathering in the new dining 'pavilion' as it has now been named.  Simple quick take-out took on a whole new vibe when we sat together with family and friends around a cozy table and enjoyed our new space.

We are ready to toast the upcoming holidays - I for one am excited for a festive bit of holiday style in our house. So much so that I did a DIY glitter project over the weekend. And I am not a DIY kinda gal.

We put our Berkshire table in the pavilion and it is a happy place to be. One of the things we try to do to make our store a convenient stop for you is stock most of what we carry. Here are some our dining tables from Canvas Interiors and if you are feeling the holiday itch like I am, check these out. We could very well get one to you before your next big gathering, especially our local friends.

cheers!

THIS JUST IN

We have been unpacking quite a few new goodies at Canvas Interiors over the last few weeks. Here is a quick snapshot of  new arrivals:

The new art, dramatic black and grey pieces and the creamy caramel wood and leather add a delicious layer to the canvas. (Yes, I did it again, sorry can't resist)

You can see more on our website, Canvas Interiors.
