Hudson Grace

Flipping through Lonny Mag I had to stop and linger over the images of Hudson Grace, a new store in my old neighborhood. I used to happen upon these new stores just by walking down the street with my coffee on a Saturday morning but now I view from afar and wish I could just pop in and look around.

Hudson Grace is the concept of Monelle Totah, a former VP of product design at Williams-Sonoma and her friend Gary McNatton an award winning product, fragrance and package designer. There are so many talented creatives working in San Francisco at the corporate offices of places like Williams-Sonoma and to see them break out on their own and start a new business is exciting. San Francisco is full to the brim with creative talent. I hope I can bring a bit of that to you here on the blog.

At Hudson Grace they believe that in simplicity there is longevity. A core concept of this blog and a voice I try to convey here. Also a key idea when we concepted Canvas Interiors (if you are new to the blog look up top at 'inside canvas interiors' for a peek at the store).

This store inspires me.  I hope you like it too.

gifts for: Boy

Now a few goodies for the fellas. It is a wonderful journey through man-land these days. There are some very talented and creative guys out there building interesting brands. Jack Spade and J. Crew have set the bar high and some very talented guys are following suit (pun intended).

So here is a list of interesting and hopefully useful gifts for the fellas in your life:

I hope you find a special gift he will love.

SHOP:

gifts for: Girl

When you find just the right gift for someone special it is a great feeling. So I thought I would make a little cheat sheet for your (or my) significant other for Valentines Day.  Or for that matter, for you to get yourself something special just because.

Another idea: if you see something you like, use the little 'share on FB' button on the right put it on someone's FB page as a little nudge in the right direction.  Helpful right?  I'm here for you.

Big hint ahead:
my #1 wish item is this Love Letter necklace by India Hicks.

I love these pouches from Mark & Graham and finally... tasteful typeface monograms!

These goodies won't break the bank. So go ahead, share the love.
I'll be back tomorrow with some gifts for the fellas.

SHOP:

straight up desire

I know I usually do the 'inspire // desire' thing when talking about shopping but today I'm just jumping right in to 'desire'.  Lets call it a shopping list. As I look at spring fashion my head is somewhat spinning.   Do I like pastels?  Flowers?  I'm just not sure yet how spring will play out for me and my closet. So for now I am feeling this...

Now, will I get all crazy and mix the leopard shoes with stripes?  I am not sure yet... but as I write this I think, why not?!

My favorite is the Tibi top.
You know how much I like a good striped top.
This is at the top of my list.  How about you?

THE LIST:

1.  Tibi top in silk... a nice change from my cotton standbys
2. sunnies in a fresh shape
3. an ipad case plain and simple
4. a cigarette jean just above the ankle
5. sassy leopard flats with a touch of hot pink for a twist

a little sparkle and sass

I have been collecting a few images of sparkly bits... today its bits of silver.  A little last minute inspiration for the remaining holiday parties.   With Christmas Eve only a week away (what?!) I am guessing you may have one or two holiday parties this week and weekend.

So here is to a little sparkle and sass. Which one are you?

Whether a holiday party or perhaps New Years Eve,
its that time of year to tap into our inner sass.
And then out come the Uggs and all is back to normal.

more loot

We had a great morning last Thursday at canvas interiors.  The ladies of loot jewelry brought new necklaces for our first ever pop-up-shop.  It was relaxed, fun and of course very inspiring. New designs, new treasures, and lots of choices.  The beauty of loot is that everyone found something unique and meaningful.  A bit about Loot:

Each piece of Loot Jewelry is hand-crafted using vintage, up-cycled, reclaimed, and repurposed "treasures,"
many centuries old. We combine these vintage elements with modern findings to make our jewelry collection.

These necklaces are so unique. And as I am finding there is always just one more
I have to have every time I look at the collection.

Thank you Shauna and Day for a great morning!

If you want to get in touch with the ladies of loot jewelry
you can message them on their facebook page here.

Local friends, we will be carrying loot in the store very soon!  Just in time for holiday shopping.

inspire//desire 'mood' board

Here are a few things catching my eye today.

A little attitude, a little smile, a little leather.

And depending on your mood, here are some shopping links:

The good news is, whatever your mood might be, any of these pieces will work together
so you can really be in more than one frame of mind.
Again, appeals to my Gemini tendencies.

 a little daring + classic
sassy + you mean business
mellow with a touch of tough + you really mean business
See? Fun!

This has been a fun project for me today.
I think I will tackle another inspire desire 'shopping mood board' soon!
Hope you enjoy it!

canvas interiors: new on the floor

Today I will share some new things we have on the floor. As you may have read before, our fall look is shaping up with grey and cream and lots of chunky knit throws making things feel quite cozy. And two very exciting arrivals for me... the bar cart and the white lacquered bedside table have finally hit the floor.

I love how all the textures and materials work together here.
Wood, slate, aluminum, with giant roses and soft wooly throw pillows.

This bench looks great with a dining table as seating
or as a coffee table

The 'Rachel' table - white lacquer gives traditional a twist

simple accessories add chic to bedtime

paired with a grey-washed wood bed and grey linens...

tuck in, light a candle and nighty night

grey washed dining table with a lyrical base looks mellow casual
paired with simple slipcovered chairs

mix and match wood and tone for a neutral look

grey and zinc top dining table looks crisp with white slipcovered chairs

adding crisp black to a white slipcovered sofa makes an instant change
from summer to fall

My favorite console table - graphic and rustic all at the same time.
I love the mix of metal and wood done with a delicate dose of each.

Get ready for guests with this amazing bar cart.
Just the right size to tuck just about anywhere.

and we are getting ready for holiday wrapping ...
(well, we can't wrap a sofa but candles and books yes)

We hope to see you in the store soon if you live locally. If you are reading from afar and you are interested in anything you see here you can email the store directly for a pdf catalog at

Like us on Facebook  to keep updated on new arrivals!

And thank you for taking a look!  We hope you like what you see.

Tuesday's girl

Hello!  The day is moving along and I am just now getting a post up. I do try to have fresh things up by 9am but lately it seems to happen later in the day. I started to feel a little stress about that, and then realized that when I rush I don't enjoy this process as much. I always want to stay in the headspace of pure creativity, and not 'deadline' while working on this blog. I worked in advertising for 20 years in heavy deadline mode and I am trying to remember I don't have to put that kind of pressure on myself when creating this blog.  Phew.

I guess what I am trying to say, is thank you for reading. Thank you for checking in. I hope its ok if new posts hit the wires a little later some days than others. I enjoy this process and I hope you enjoy reading ... even if it is later in the day.

Here are a few images catching my eye this week...

Here are a few shopping links... I know, lots of shopping this week and no, I don't shop this much but you never know when you see something you simply must have. I would be remiss if I shared images with you and didn't at least source a few links for you right?

So if you have the urge...

And thank you again for reading... I really do hope you enjoy.

Deep Dive

I am finding with extra time at home I am becoming more of a shopping sleuth. I have shopped on Amazon forever, but never really for 'fa...
