spotlight: sincerely jules in paris

I spent some time yesterday catching up on one of my favorites, Sincerely Jules. Always a pleasure to see what she is up to. She keeps evolving, growing and coming up with charming outfits that are so very inspiring. If you haven't seen her site for a while she has made some changes and it looks great.

She is currently in Paris and her daily outlook on the city is charming.

Watching a blog go from inception to viable business is inspiring.

I look forward to her next adventure / venture.

spotlight: William Abranowicz

Today in the spotlight is one of my all-time favorite photographers, 

William Abranowicz   

There are a few photographers from my Art Buying career that stay on my radar and I smile every time I see their work...William Abranowicz is one of them.  We only worked on one job together many years ago but I remember it being a wonderful, gracious and easy experience (which can't be said for a lot of shoots).  His agent Becky Lewis from art+commerce  is equally lovely and although we've never met in person, I know it would be wonderful as well. You can just tell these things about some people. These are those people. 

You have no doubt seen William Abranowicz's work in a zillion magazines (like Ellen and Portia's house in the May 2013 Elle Decor) and all over pinterest.  His work never gets old, his eye always fresh and so very inviting. One of my favorite things to watch is work from his travel portfolios.  He is an avid and passionate traveller and Greece is a frequent stop.

spotlight: Kara Rosenlund

I went on a little impromptu pinterest journey and ended up finding a wonderful blog and website from Australia.  I thought I would share it with you today for a little sense of adventure. Lets go to Australia shall we?

I'm guessing you may have seen these pins...

They are from the uber-talented Kara Rosenlund. Kara is a photographer by trade and has expanded her career to stylist, buyer and seller of vintage wares.  Her eye is well trained and whether stepping infront of the camera to style an interior, or behind the camera to shoot her life's little moments... is clearly a win/win for us.  

Its hard to know where to begin with Kara's talents.  Step inside Kara's home life on her blog where she posts recipes and delicious photographs of things like flourless chocolate cake.  

...or pictures of the strawberry peach crumble she made over an open fire in her backyard. 

...or check out a recent styling job she did 

...or sign up for one of her 'vignette' classes and learn how she puts together still life moments

But the thing that has me most in awe of Kara is this fabulous idea: 

She travels around Australia in her lovingly restored 1956 Franklin Caravan and sells vintage wares for the home. Kind of a rolling flea market. First of all, what fun. Secondly, she has an amazing eye for photography and styling so just imagine what she finds at flea markets and curates.

This image alone is amazing... looks like a Kate Spade ad.

Oh, did I mention she had an online shop as well? Everything on her site is beautifully photographed and presented including these simple everyday objects:

I could spend more time trying to explain to you all the cool things Kara does.  But instead, take a trip to Australia and get lost for a few moments in Kara's world.

I only wish she could drive Frankie stateside.

spotlight: photographer max wanger

Last Friday's image has been stored in my files for some time. The day after Valentines day seemed like perfect day to share that image with you. I found it on tumblr and when I dug for the photographer credit I got lost on his website for a nice long time looking at beautiful images.  I then decided I needed to share it with you today.

spotlight: TOMBOY STYLE

Today I will share with you a blog that is refreshing and original. It is one I have been reading for a little over a year now and I always find something interesting when I visit. I love Lizzie Garrett's perspective on the idea that a tomboy is not simply a girl who wears boys clothes.

Lizzie's blog encompasses a well organized look at past and present tomboy style that includes great photography and is chock full of inspiration.

Her blog goes beyond the ordinary.  Her perspective is fresh and unique and one I fully appreciate.

spotlight: honestly wtf?

I have an eye for a certain look, or style. Whether it be what is presented here on the blog or how I dress or how the store looks.  It is a style that has evolved over time with many experiments along the way. Where I find myself these days is firmly planted in what I know works for me and makes my heart happy. That said, the evolution of personal style is a fascinating journey and one that I have always embraced. Which is why I love reading this blog...

I love the content, I love the way it is organized and the way it is presented. These girls are doing a fantastic job and I find inspiration every time I visit. Which fuels the style journey.

 Not to mention the name of the blog makes me smile every time. 

Beautiful photography, up to the minute fashion trends, DIY projects (the bracelets above) and more.

They have it all covered, well organized and it all makes for a great read.

spotlight: could i have that?

Lately I have realized that I have not had time to do what got me inspired to start this blog in the first place...  read other blogs.  I can't tell you the last time I spent time casually meandering around the web waves and actually reading another blog.

There are so many fabulous and creative people writing and producing great work in this format.  I thought I would start sharing some of my favorites from time to time as a way to get my creative juices flowing again and also for you to hopefully discover new things.

One of the favorites that I list on the sidebar of my blog is Samantha Hutchinson's could i have that?

She lives in Santa Barbara and has an easy breezy way about her posts. Visiting her world gives me a little spring in my step and some great ideas on how to mix and match existing pieces in my closet.  She has also started some video stuff which I love. Samantha has a great eye and fabulous style.
