#OOTD

This hashtag pretty much means some variation of the same thing for me.  This white tee, or that one? Boyfriends or skinnies? This pair of black boots, or Converse? Which pair of TOMS?

It has been a long while since I did my 'mindless wander around a mall' thing. Yesterday I felt the need to get my shopping yayas out. After stopping at Neimans to admire the butterflies I headed straight to J. Crew.  Then it was off to  F21, H&M and ALDO.   There is plenty of summer inspiration hitting the stores right now. It is easy to have fun with a uniform, mix in a few random things like palazzo pants (yay!) and not break the bank.

I added my favorite J. Crew basics (on sale now with code: LIGHTENUP). Their tees and tanks are my staples.

SHOP: pink tank  //  white tee  //  striped tee

I will be mixing up my uniform this summer with palazzo pants. No better place for that than F21. And I grabbed a couple of necklaces to tide me over until India launches hers.

SHOP: palazzo pants  //   necklace

In the ultimate uniform dressing move, I bought the same sandal in two colors. Go figure. No surprises here. These were too perfect to pass up at $60 a pop. Synthetic? You bet.

SHOP: sandals

If it is snowing where you are, take a little virtual trip to spring with these easy pieces. It is warming up here and I am in my new white tee, flip flops and sweats. Time to go put on those palazzo pants.

Today I'm headed to the store to shoot some images of new arrivals. If you haven't checked out where I spend the other portion of my time you can see Canvas Interiors here, or follow me on Instagram.

Thank goodness I'm a Gemini.

CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT J. CREW FOR A MINUTE?

I get a ton of emails from a ton of companies announcing their end of season sales and new Fall arrivals.  I breeze through these emails and rarely does anything catch my eye so much that I want to blog about it. I curate my own posts with bits and pieces from all kinds of sources to put my look together here on the blog.

But really, J. Crew just did it all.  Fall looks amazing.

TOTALLY RANDOM

Hello! I hope your week is off to a good start.  Welcome to

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

1. Street style in Milan from the ladies of Vogue, really what more do you need to say?

2. The Design Chaser is a favorite blog of mine - check out this home in a former pencil factory in Denmark.

3. The perfect denim jacket - look no further than J. Crew (and 25% off right now online!)

4. I saw this image on Pinterest and it struck me as such a refreshing take on a nursery. I spend a lot of time trying to track Pinterest images back their original source. In doing so I find all kinds of fun things, including this blog and the designer of the nursery:   Bijou and Boheme (from a Canadian - even better).

5. This is a fantastic idea made even more so for me because it is a double happy whammy - A Canadian magazine (born and raised in Toronto I was) featuring a crazy talented company that is less than a mile from my home in FL.  Two worlds colliding in a fabulous way. Check out this amazing idea from House and Home featuring Rifle Paper Co.

Jenna

Watching Jenna Lyons on the post inauguration Today show I had to yet again admire what she was wearing.

But more than that, I loved what she had to say. So it made me want to read a bit more about her, and not just her divorce/new relationship and emotional sale of her beautiful Park Slope townhouse that has been blogged about a gagillion times.

This article in the NYT  is a nice glimpse inside what makes Jenna tick.  She seems humble, happy and genuine.  She came from a childhood of feeling out of place, not one of the 'in crowd'. One of the reasons there are no visible logos on J.Crew's stuff. She doesn't want to subscribe to the mentality of logo-worship to display your status, leaving others feeling left out.

Not to mention retiring the first family's inauguration items. A class act and well done J. Crew.

A few images from the article of Jenna's personal style:

and a few of my current fav picks:

I am a big fan of J.Crew, always have been.  Jenna has lead the company into a creative space that in my opinion, many brands are having trouble with. It is always a pleasure to see what she comes up with next. Very few brands have my attention this way.

It is not just about the clothes, it is about how you feel when you put them on.
