INSPIRE // DESIRE: CANVAS INTERIORS BEACH COZY

Popping in today with an image from the store as we cozy things up with layers. This setting is one of my favorites. It is light and airy (cue the clouds) while still feeling beachy (chandelier and lamp).  Add the cozy layers (pillows and throws) and you have instant beach cozy. This is the first Inspire // Desire I have done with the store. Hope you enjoy!

Who would have thought that a grey sweatshirt could have so many moments?  Flashdance aside, I am a big fan of the grey sweatshirt. It invokes comfort, cool and casual. My first favorite was a grey Roots sweatshirt that I wore at summer camp until it fell apart. I love it when clothes invoke warm fuzzy feelings.

This image is just so lovely. Charming strangers passing on the fashionable streets of Paris.  I feel like it sums up the two sides of my closet, with the jeans and flats taking center stage and the pumps and dressy dress up clothes sneaking into frame every now and then. Hmmm. Deep right?

Today's inspire // desire is all about summer. Easy breezy longer days, lazy moments of reflection and of course, my favorite white clothes. Add a straw hat, big gold watch, some stackable bracelets and your favorite sunnies and you have a fabulous uniform for summer.

Remember these images from a while ago?  I found very similar grey moto jeans on sale at shopbop. Which sent me digging back into my archives for these images. Which prompted me to do a little more shopping on your behalf so you could perhaps find a little treat. There is a fashion risk here... are these coated jeans sticking around for a while?  I'll let you decide.  The good news is all the other pieces today are classics if you have the shopping itch.

slightly obsessed: ankle strap heels

As most of my friends will attest, I do not wear heels often.  But when I do, I have (for years), worn ankle strap versions.  I love the look. They feel classic to me and are my 'go to' heel style.  Since they are having a 'moment' right now I am most happy to see images of new ways to wear them. So what better to do than embrace the moment and indulge a little.

Today's inspire // desire is all about lace.  I saw this amazing architectural image on tumblr and a few images later an beautiful image of lace shorts.  Put it all together and a collage of lace was the obvious choice for today.

I see lots of lace turning up in the mags for this spring and summer.  Fresh, cool and delicate.

I am jumping for joy that the Bermuda short is back in action as a 'fashion item'. I have long been a wearer of this type of summer short and think they are cool.  Yes cool.  Mr. K. finds them, well, less than cool.  But I am thrilled that designers have reintroduced on of my style staples with a modern edge. 

Wear them with a floaty or floral top. Or pair them with a white tank top and Converse. Loose fitting or  trim and tailored, these shorts are most certainly on my shopping list for spring.  Just think of the summertime possibilities.

Last winter I was obsessed with finding the perfect cream faux fur coat that doesn't look super faux.  This desire swept through the season right down to scouring the post-season winter sale racks at Bloomies on two separate visits. What if the perfect one existed in a forgotten corner?  Alas, no luck. Now that I feel a chill in the air my faux fever has peaked again.

Feeling a little hint of fall in the air?  (I wish... not yet here in FLA).  But if I were I would be wearing something like this. I love how this image is a little hard and a little soft all at the same time.  Leather jacket and studded shoes vs. soft slouchy sweater.  Beauty on the street vs. a 'don't mess with me' look on her face. Sometimes a girl just has to be both. A little hard, a little soft. Again, my Gemini tendencies.

Tuesday Tumble INSPIRE DESIRE mash up

Here are a few things catching my eye on tumblr today.  It is such a fun exercise to put these collages together. While I was doing it I started coveting Tretorns. I pretty much wore them all through my grade school and high school years.  They are near and dear to my youth. So why not wear them now?  Which made me go looking for them online. Which made me realize, why don't I mix the INSPIRE//DESIRE thing with the collage thing. And VOILA...

We've all been carrying the big slouchy bag around for quite some time.  Or the 'going out for dinner' envelope clutch.  I am kind of tired of slugging around a big purse and have scaled down to a nice buttery mid-size version all summer.  I am headed in a smaller direction for fall... not a clutch as we all know it (stiff, proper)  but the new, slouchy buttery soft version.  Or one with a touch of undone sparkle.

Today's inspire // desire is all about grey.  Jeans that is.  I love the soft look of these jeans and am ready to try a few variations... a little sheen, perhaps some faux leather?  Pair with a navy top, breton stripe or white T and you have a simple go-to look.

going green

I have noticed another color that keeps catching my attention for fall.  It is soft green military inspired.  Normally I don't go for the whole 'combat' look but there is something about these new shapes and muted color that I am liking.  The shirt is soft and drapey worn open or tucked in. The pants are not too tight, not too baggy.  The jacket works with every single bottom you could imagine.
