CANVAS INTERIORS WINTER PARK

Well folks, we are pretty much ready. The floor is starting to feel lived in, the vibe is coming together and we are excited.

As for blogging this week, it seems my desktop has decided to send me into an Apple update software spiral (nightmare) loop including my computer freezing to a completely black screen. I iPhoto has crashed and Numbers refuses to open. So... excuse the lack of posts the next day or two while I untangle my digital world with an Apple genius.

Genius timing I might add while I aggregate Numbers' spread sheets and work on our grand opening party invite using images that are in, yes, iPhoto.  Fun times!

MINTED PINK

Must be the grey weather we are having but I just enjoyed a very lovely and soothing visual journey of pink. I took a little trip on Minted and bought an art print... this one to be exact.

It was just so calm. Had to have it. Then I decided I am missing my Cali roots so I threw this one in the cart too.

I collected a few more pink moments for you and mushed them all together to give you a little warm bath of pink.

note: each one of these is an individual piece and I curated them in pairs

You can find these and many other beautiful pieces by going to the Minted Art Marketplace.  Expand the filter choices and search away. There are an abundant number of size and framing choices allowing for anything from an affordable little art treat to a large statement piece.

I simply clicked 'pink' as a filter choice and found these lovely gems.  If you like the foil map above and want to see others, expand the filter choices and under 'type' click 'foil pressed'.  Happy hunting!

OUTSTANDING IT WAS

For the last few years Outstanding in the Field has been on my radar. This was the first year we attended and after experiencing both the concept and the food we are most certainly keeping an eye on dates for their next event in Florida.

Held at Lake Meadow Naturals farm, the Florida leg of the Outstanding tour brought gorgeous cool weather and a fantastic meal.

Founded in 1999 by Jim Denevan, Outstanding has traveled across the country and back partnering with local farmers and chefs to bring local fare to the table.  Set and served family style, the endless one long table makes a statement. Togetherness, interacting with new people, sharing a platter of food that connects you directly to the farm.

As day turns in to dusk turns in to night you can feel the pleasure and care that has gone in to preparing every course. It is a lovely event and I highly recommend you check out the website to see if there is an event near you in 2015.

JUMP

I have one. I love it. I feel happy when I throw it on. Why I bought another I have no idea other than the price was right and I was in the mood.  You have to be careful with these things... they can look a little slouchy if you don't get it just right.  Proportion, fabric, where the waist hits. All a very particular science.

When I started editing my fav's I quickly realized that I had to put them in categories... there are so many to choose from which tells you this trend is here to stay for a while.

CANVAS INTERIORS #3

When Mr. K and I started cooking up the idea for Canvas Interiors the picture in my head was always full of natural light.  Loft-like light in an old building that we gut and paint white.  And that is exactly what has happened in store #3.
Here is a sneak peek at the progress thus far and a little glimpse of where the building started.  I can't wait to show you more when the finishing touches are in place.

little details being put in place and in the bottom right you get a glimpse of one of two garage doors that were added to open the space up.

More soon! In the meantime you can follow me on Instagram for both the blog and the store to see more.

SILVER GLOBES

Lets just say Jennifer Lopez wins the prize for sizzle.  But Julianne Moore gets my vote in silver. I've been feeling a little silver love creeping in to my usually gold vibe but when I started looking at those lulu dk tattoos  I sort of longed for a silver one. Could it be? Is silver making a comeback in my summer gold mix?

Then this dress puts me in to full-tilt silver-seeking.

FLASHY

One of the highlights of the holiday season for us was entertaining 16 kids and 15 adults at a family-style New Years Eve house party. We love this idea... hang out with friends and kids on the early side of New Years, cook, let the kids run and pretend like we are renting a house on vacation somewhere with a bunch of families. Only we are home. And pretty much everyone big and small made it to midnight which was impressive.

One of the highlights of the party was watching grown women tackle little girls (not really tackle) to get to the front of the line for the golden tattoo station (you know who you are :).

All the girls big and small started 2015 covered in gold tattoos.  Gotta love a house party.

Here are some to get you started in the new year.  I need to restock my supply:

TO BEGIN

I have been inspired by beautiful thoughts, comments and musings on the webwaves this new year. There are so many stories to share, so many things to be grateful for and look forward to.  I have taken some time this holiday season to be an observer of blogs & instagram feeds rather than stressing out about what time this blog goes live.  It was hard to do, to step away and lift my self-imposed deadlines.

I am a workhorse. I don't give up. My parents raised me to go for it, never half-ass it (sorry Mom) and to do my best always. What I need to add to that equation in this stage of my life is that I am a creative person needing input in order to create. And seeking input takes time. I took the time to look, observe, read, absorb this holiday season and am so happy I did.  What it reinforces is that there are so many talented people out there making inspiring creative choices and doing great things. There is no way I can keep doing this (blog) unless I take the time to admire and soak in all of the amazing creativity around me.

As we wrap up the finishing touches on our 3rd Canvas Interiors location and the kids head back to school today it is time to fire up the blog engines again. But I'm going to start slowly... ramp up to maximum output. As I mentioned before the break this blog is totally organic. It is truly a daily journal. No big plan, no editorial calendar, just me and my thoughts. And sometimes those thoughts come in the middle of 3rd grade homework.  Thus, the blog waits til the next morning as I wipe away homework tears and make dinner for hungry Small and XS K.

I begin this year by sharing a few of the things that have fueled my creativity lately. Hopefully I can provide you with the creative bits you need throughout the coming year so that you can create your inspired 2015.

Check out these feeds/blogs/awesome sites:

I could spend all day on Nina Holst's Stylizimo site and instagram feed.

I want to find my inner Rosie. Thank you India for sharing her with us. (watch both interviews)

Maryam Montague's instagram feed is heartfelt and gorgeous.

Beth Webb's instagram feed is soulful and poetic.
