BOO!

Wishing you a fun Halloween Day and night... I am running between kid school parties and prepping the adult wine and cheese for tonight's trick or treating. Pinot Grigio in a big thermos, some plastic cups and we are ready to chase little costumed-sugared-up-excited-beyond-belief kids.

My favorite is #3!

Hello and thanks for stopping by for today's

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

clockwise from top left:

I am loving a midi skirt for holidays. I must admit I am a little over dresses right now and a simple black skirt in a unique length with a few different tops will make me very happy this holiday season. Keeping it simple this year.

Camille Styles is the inspiration for me when it comes to entertaining and I am all about making a fabulous bar cart this holiday season.  Check out her tips here.

I have been playing around with a new site called 'keep'.  Directly shopable links to cool things. I have started a Keep board for the store and a few other goodies if you are looking for a new thing to follow/sign up for/get addicted to.

This is amazing... you have to check out this site.  Read the 'about' section and then dig in. I am a sucker for before and after interior stories (check out the blog) and this delivers not only that but a fantastic concept for a site.  I am going to be spending a long time digging through 47 Park Ave.

INSPIRE // DESIRE: CANVAS INTERIORS BEACH COZY

Popping in today with an image from the store as we cozy things up with layers. This setting is one of my favorites. It is light and airy (cue the clouds) while still feeling beachy (chandelier and lamp).  Add the cozy layers (pillows and throws) and you have instant beach cozy. This is the first Inspire // Desire I have done with the store. Hope you enjoy!

HEATHER A. WILSON GETS IT

In my search for the perfect paint color for the exterior of our house I saw this on Pinterest:

Soft, subtle, a little dusty grey.  When tracing the paint color back to its source I found someone I've blogged about before. I love these happy surprises when my eye takes me back to someone or something that has caught my eye in the past. It means the editor in me is staying true to my style.

It is so easy to get caught up in the visual chatter that we are exposed to while blogging, pinning, Luving, Keeping... so much to see.  Which is why the work Heather does is even more impactful for me. Her attention to detail and ability to exercise restraint while keeping history in the mix is not an easy thing to do and she does it so well.

Someday if we ever find a beach shack to renovate or a nice piece of property in the country,
I will call Heather A. Wilson.

You can see more images (shot by one of my favorites William Abranowicz) in Real Simple, with Heather's commentary on the space - its a great read as this is... surprise... her home.

She is architect, interior designer and her own client on this project. The home is kid friendly, and yes, slipcovers work with kids! We talk about that at Canvas Interiors all the time - the slipcovers are the key!  You can't wash melted chocolate off of an upholstered sofa. I always have to cheer when I come across someone with kids and slipcovers.

You can see more of Heather's work here:

TOTALLY RANDOM

And here we go with today's

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

1. As you may know I am a big fan of Sundry and this little gem is on sale.  Yay!

2. I am not the most crafty person you will ever meet but if you want to make these beautiful bowls head on over to Camille Styles to see how its done. I wish I was her friend so she could bring me one as a holiday hostess gift.

3. Jorts.  I have worn them for years, just like this with sandals and white T's and arm candy and a cool necklace.  I will forever love jorts. To me the are a wardrobe staple/classic/never going away and no I am not going to hashtag each of those words.

4. White paint. Sounds easy enough right?  White is tricky and here is a good guide.

5. I am slightly obsessed with Suzanne Kassler's work.  You have probably seen her beautiful outdoor space all over pinterest but here it is decked out for a party.  Lovely.

off the Rails

I am loving the idea of adding a little bit of pattern to the fall closet.  My eye has been searching for just the right vibe.  All the while I've been seeing Rails on every celeb in LA, but I have not quite been ready to commit.  Well, I'm over my fear of commitment as it relates to pattern because I think Rails does it right.  Slouchy, soft, deconstructed.  Of course had to include two denim versions just so you didn't think I'd gone ... you guessed it... off the rails.

I'm loving these with grey skinnies or a little moto pant... and booties. Moto boots for a little edge or a lighter color for a casual laid back look.

How about you? How would you do Rails?

ps: sorry for the radio silence ... busy couple of weeks of canvas interiors stuff
and kid stuff and general stuff. You know, life stuff.
hope you are well!

Catherine on Katharine

I have been trying to get a post together while the kids are home from school today, and I must confess, I give up. After numerous interruptions of various kinds, I say 'uncle'.  Having a complete creative thought is just not going to happen today.

Perhaps Katharine has the right idea?

Cheers!

CHELSEA BOOTS

I've done Moto, high heeled bootie, and flat bootie.  The last look required for my closet this fall is actually the most obvious for my style... the Chelsea.  I have a pair from forever ago that are so worn in the heels that I can't dust them off this season. I've tried to have them fixed and the shoe guy in SF told me not to bother - that it would be too expensive and I might as well buy a new pair.  Oh, ok no problem.  Thanks shoe guy for justifying my need for just... one... more.. pair... of... boots.

SWEAT

Who would have thought that a grey sweatshirt could have so many moments?  Flashdance aside, I am a big fan of the grey sweatshirt. It invokes comfort, cool and casual. My first favorite was a grey Roots sweatshirt that I wore at summer camp until it fell apart. I love it when clothes invoke warm fuzzy feelings.

And look how many different feelings you can achieve with this simple style staple...here are some images to...

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

Hi there!  If you are checking in after my little break last week - thanks for coming back!
It was a nice respite and I'm easing back into the schedule with today's

TOTALLY RANDOM TUESDAY

1.  I am in love with a sofa. We put it on the floor at Canvas Interiors and one arrived to our living room last week - it changes the whole room. Casual elegant and relaxed. Sink in.

2.  Love this idea on refinery 29 - pairing an outfit with the vibe of a restaurant. And this restaurant, Little Beast (in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of LA) happens to be fabulous, delicious and owned by two very talented people. Husband and wife team, Chef Sean Lowenthal (former sous chef at Chateau Marmont) and Deb Schwartz-Lowenthal, (photographer's agent and owner of DSREPS)  have a good thing going.

3.  I need to empty my closet and reorganize from top to bottom. I keep trying to shift little things around to have it make more sense and its not working.  I want to blow it up. In lieu of that, Cupcakes and Cashmere's Emily spells it our for us with great pics. Investing in hangers is starting to make sense after looking at this post.

4.  I am very interested in trying this line, Earth Tu Face.  I just love the 'wild crafted' part. Created by two herbalists in California, this line looks really interesting. They have a really clear glossary of ingredients and what they do which takes the mystery out of it.  Simple, clean and clear.  Just the way I like it.

5.  This Madewell outfit is working for me - love the silk peplum. Comfy for a casual 'dressed up" look.

Deep Dive

I am finding with extra time at home I am becoming more of a shopping sleuth. I have shopped on Amazon forever, but never really for 'fa...
