Saturday at canvas

It has been a while since I have shared images of the store so I thought I would do that today.   It is really feeling cozy and 'lived in' now.  We opened the doors at the end of January and are very excited about the wonderful feedback and enthusiasm we feel from the people who walk through the space.  And, we are feverishly working on the website  so our friends in other places can get a little canvas style in their mix.

amazing reclaimed wood bed with crisp white linens

I went to a flea market last weekend and found these...

I think they will end up in this...

We are ready for the next phase.
Fill in a few areas with cozy throws and one-of-a-kind finds.
Launch the web site, cross our fingers and hope you like it.
Thanks for taking a look!

bejeweled

Last night a very sweet friend had a very lovely party to debut her new jewelry line 'Loot'.  Here is a sneak peek at some of her beautiful, hand made necklaces.  Shauna has a great eye for collecting vintage charms, coins and other treasures. She then transforms them in to one of a kind necklaces.

I will share a few pictures here, and then bring you more about Loot soon.

The stage was set for a lovely evening.  Wine by the lake with friends shopping.
What could be better?

This table was stunning encircled with Loot treasures

This is the ever so lovely MC with her Loot finds.

trying to decide which lovelies to purchase...

It was a wonderful night, a most gracious hostess ( I hope to bring you her house soon - it was stunning), and I look forward to telling you more about Shauna's new venture Loot.

totally random: chambray

I went to jcrew the other day and bought a chambray shirt...

...which of course inspired me to look for others with the same attraction to this classic staple.
I came across a lot of images. The funny thing is, when I looked at the dates on some of them, they are 2007, 2009 - you know, 'old'.  Ancient in fashion terms.  I thought what the heck, I like it, I'm wearing it.  Its classic and dare I say a little cool.

Then I saw one of my favorite gals wearing head to toe denim at the Mulberry spring 2012 show.  2012.  Ok.  That's now.

love this look

and this I covet

and this is moi

All in all, after buying the shirt, coming home and getting inspired by images
I am happy it is unseasonably chilly in FLA today.
Perfect for a new shirt.

grounded

I adore everything about this room designed by Piet-Jan van den Kommer.  The quality of light, the windows, the simplicity of that gorgeous coffee table.  The cozy rug, the basket under the windows... all very 'canvas style'.   Simple yet eye catching at the same time.  One bold statement instead of 100 things competing for your eye.

The wood textures ground the space and make it feel real.

There is a sense of calm and order to the space.  It is spare but not cold.  Clean lines but not 'sharp'.
The light streaming in makes it all feel soft and welcoming.
The mix of tone and textures makes it all work.
And the tub doesn't hurt either.

dreaming of: the list

Home today with a cold and pesky cough so I thought I would indulge in a little planning for summer weekends.   It is a good feeling to clean out the closet which Mr. K and I did last weekend.  Now its time to edit one more time... what did I love last summer? What did I skip wearing?  Is there any more that could go in the donate/consignment bag?  Probably.

In the meantime, my imaginary beach weekend packing list is shaping up...

after a long beach day, a little moisture on the lips always feels nice

I love the smell of this protective spray for the locks

a little easy to pack dress for a casual night out

a soft maxi dress for an afternoon cocktail

this j. crew bikini  is at the top of my list to order

and a j. crew soft tunic and slouchy shorts - comfortable and cool

now all I need is a little of this:

heavy sigh.  cough.

get away

I came across this home via the style files (a wonderful blog) and decided to dig in and read about it in Casa.  It really is a perfect example of how a keen eye for editing and a desire to simplify life can go a long way.

A former JP Morgan exec buys a former potters studio in Trancoso, Brazil and sets out to renovate.  It could be the beginning of a big over-the-top reno but instead, the homeowner and architect remodeled the home preserving the artful vibe.

look at the real logs in the ceiling... shower heads!

hand carved sink by local artisans

I love the rustic feel coupled with the crisp white plaster and white furniture.

It instantly elevates both the structure and the interiors
to something elegant just by nature of the simplicity.

Deep Dive

I am finding with extra time at home I am becoming more of a shopping sleuth. I have shopped on Amazon forever, but never really for 'fa...
