dispatch: Harbour Island day 2

I am always amazed and inspired by my time spent on this magical island.  There is inspiration everywhere you turn.  Here is a little tour of some of my favorite places.  This is a place so full of creativity and spirit and I hope you can see it from these images. This is a little tour part one... so much to share that I feel it has to be done in a couple of posts.

BLUE ROOSTER:
Fresh white paint and colorful clothes are a breath of fresh air when you step inside this boutique.  Filled with fabulous dresses, beach cover ups and accessories it is a great place to find something special.

The Pink Sands Resort is one of the most enchanting properties on the island.  The lobby bar is stunning.  Lit from within, the giant dripping shells glow in the evening and make for a cozy place for drinks.  The oceanside Blue Bar is a fantastic restaurant with the best seat on the island for dining.  A small bar and delicious food await.  The staff is lovely and we had a fabulous dinner for 16 here. Lots of wine and laughter this night.

The Princess St. Gallery was such a treat.  We spent quite some time here browsing and admiring the beautiful art, jewelry, linens and accessories.  The owner is charming and friendly and has an amazing eye.

The Rock House is an elegant boutique hotel on the harbour side of town which means you get a beautiful sunset from their dining room.  We had our rehearsal dinner here 7 years ago and each time we come back, the food is phenomenal and the owner and manager greet everyone with genuine smiles and a warm handshake.  The bar and pool area are gorgeous.  One of our favorite places to have a drink.

I have so much more to share with you from this gorgeous island but the rest will have to wait.  The plane home is awaiting (boo-hoo) and I must run.

Tune in tomorrow for a giveaway!

And Thursday I will bring you the rest of my Harbour Island favs.

island essentials

Everywhere I turn I am hearing the words 'pre-fall'.  Don't get me wrong I will embrace fall clothes with open arms as I do every year here in FLA.  But right now I have my head firmly planted in one place... Harbour Island.  Its about the time when I need to organize the essentials...

We are headed back to the place where we got hitched...
this time for a birthday fete.

See that pretty pool? Thats where our reception was before they renovated the hotel...

And now for the suitcase...

As I make huge piles of things I think I might want to pack,
here are the things that are already in the suitcase:

The essentials:
5. Ray Ban Aviators  //  6. Lucky linen pants  //  7. Clinique SPF15 lip gloss  //  8. Chan Luu bracelets   9. Kai perfume

Wish me luck, so far I have 5 maxi dresses selected and waiting to make the cut...

Nor Cal dream

As a former San Francisco resident I feel an immediate connection and slight twinge of longing when I open a magazine and see something from Nor Cal.  There is a certain spirit and deep seeded sense of creativity that is ever-present. This weekend retreat in Marin County is a perfect example of that.

I immediately picture dinner parties and long weekends in this wonderfully interesting home. Especially on the deck.  This couple made a getaway that is a true expression of their life and it shows.

Filled with a mix of old and new, you see the personalities of the homeowners.
I think I like them.

Sunday at Canvas

It has been a while since I posted about the store.  So today I thought I would share some images with you that I took this weekend. It is a random mix of new things and shows the range of vibe, texture and tone that is achieved all while starting with yes, you guessed it... a simple canvas.

Finishing touches are being made on the website - a learning curve and new experience for us but we are very close to just closing our eyes, jumping in, and going live.

love this new sofa - so large and comfy and these new coffee tables are really interesting

a giant basket for blankets or throw pillows adds texture and scale to any room

the patterns on the drum table and pillows echo each other
and make for an eclectic mix of texture with this sofa

this is the same sofa styled with a carmel-soft ottoman and neutral pillows

old railroad ties form a nesting table - looking great with the sectional and reloaded rug

this bench is one of my favs - clean lines and a slim profile
makes a great resting place for you or the pillows from your bed

speaking of beds... this one is one of my favorites

this new sofa and new pillows are soooo soft and comfy - sink-in-and-stay kind of comfy

Next on the arrival list: a very cool new dining table, a fabulous lower profile sofa and a mirrored console table. I will share when they get unpacked and find their place on the floor.

The eclectic mix of shapes and textures allows for an ever-evolving floor
and endless combinations for your imagination.

I hope you enjoyed the tour!
