loot jewelry trunk show

It has been a busy week here! Back from SF, lots of new things hitting the floor at canvas interiors and a fabulous trunk show last night. I want to share the trunk show with you as it was not only a great evening with wonderful friends, but the jewelry is...

ahh-mayyyy-zing

Meet Shauna (l) and Day (r), the ladies of loot jewelry
(yours truly in the middle)

The jewelry speaks for itself so I will show you lots of pictures and at the end give you contact info if you would like to score a little loot for yourself.

There was so much to choose from and each piece feels unique and special. Hand crafted from a mix of vintage, repurposed, and reclaimed treasures, these necklaces are truly one of a kind. People were walking from table to table trying on layers of beautiful necklaces. I put these three on and didn't take them off all night...

my loot

While I was in SF I showed loot pictures to some friends who loved the sneak peek. So we even did a little remote shopping last night with pictures, texts and emails flying back and forth...

... this one is headed to SF to the ever-stylish (and stylist) Jill DeWan of Flair Shopping.

Thank you Shauna and Day for a fantastic and inspiring night.

For those of you who are local and missed the show we are planning on carrying the line in the store.  If you would like to arrange to see loot in person sooner than later please contact me here.  We could do a daytime stop-in 'pop up shop' at the store. We are big fans of loot so we'd be happy to make that happen.

If you live far far away and would like to find your loot
please contact

Back to the Bay

There are so many things to share about the Bay Area but today I will focus on Mill Valley. I just got back from a fantastic weekend with my westies and spent time wandering in downtown Mill Valley exploring. It is an eclectic and always inspiring group of stores, cafes and restaurants.  Always a pleasure to pop into the shops and wander aimlessly.  So here's a little tour.

Just simply walking with no destination yields many finds.

Or stroll to the Depot  for a latte and organic scramble...

...grab some stems at the Mill Valley Market to brighten the day

Pop into baby & kids company for unique books, toys and clothes.

...or find a fantastic fit at  the Blues Jean Bar. This place openend on Union St. right before I moved to FLA and they are the most helpful at finding the right fit for you. It is great to know there is one in Mill Valley. A large selection and well edited styles makes trying on jeans a pleasure.

A stop at the store always yields something fun. I always seem to find a little goodie and lots of smiles in this store.

This place is new to me, Mint.  What a breath of fresh air it was. There was so much to see, and all of it displayed with care and an impeccable eye.

And the last stop on the tour is another new one (to me). In the charming former space of Maison Reve is  showroom.

This store was such a treat I went back three times. The owners are both lovely and clearly creative  thinkers. Original artwork of one of the owners is displayed nicely above the clothing racks for a touch of home. And in talking to the other owner we discovered we both grew up in Toronto. Which is always a fun discovery for me. Their eye is on trend and well edited. The store has a very welcoming vibe.  These ladies have done a great job in creating what is obviously a well thought out collection.  I had a hard time choosing but the Clare Vivier clutch kept jumping out at me...

These two beauties made it into my suitcase... thank you showroom for stocking such amazing choices!

check out the showroom's facebook page and like!

I can't wait to head back to MV.
To my westies (besties in the west), thanks for a perfect weekend.

Imaginary house hunt

I have an insatiable curiosity about two things that I attribute 100% to my parents.

1. 'Picking' or in more genteel terms 'antiquing'
2. Looking at real estate all the time even though I have absolutely no need to move.

My Dad used to look at real estate listings no matter where we were. Just to look. Just because. Whenever we traveled be it countryside, mountains or the next neighborhood over, he would stop in to the local real estate office and get the little brochure thingy. And everywhere we went there was an antique store, old barn or dusty old junk store my sister and I explored.

In that spirit I am going to start showing a few listings here and there just so we can get a little travel, picking, voyeurism and a dash of wishful thinking all rolled into one post. Sound good?

Today we travel to Sweden to Villa Viktors Hill.  Original period details mixed with things like a modern kitchen make this home feel modern/ historic. And of course simple white slipcovers and loads of white paint make it very canvas style.

If you are curious about the price, here is the currency conversion.

25,000,000 SEK = 3,842,130 USD

White paint and new slipcovers = much less

Hope these images inspire you to
hit the countryside this weekend,
stop at a yard sale, or paint your living room.

Tuesday Tumble INSPIRE DESIRE mash up

Here are a few things catching my eye on tumblr today.  It is such a fun exercise to put these collages together. While I was doing it I started coveting Tretorns. I pretty much wore them all through my grade school and high school years.  They are near and dear to my youth. So why not wear them now?  Which made me go looking for them online. Which made me realize, why don't I mix the INSPIRE//DESIRE thing with the collage thing. And VOILA...

Some images to...

and a few shopping links if you so...

Fall at Canvas Interiors

Today I thought I would share a little fall update on the store. The floor is making a subtle shift (que my fall moodboard) into layers of cream and grey.  It is feeling very cozy after unpacking chunky cable knit throws, giant soft throw pillows and new organic bedding.

En route are some darker pieces like a bronzed metal bar cart and dark metal apothecary chest.  Mix these pieces with white slipcovered sofas, chunky knit throws and you have the canvas interiors look for fall.
