tuesday at canvas

I love heading to the store after we have received new items.  Its fun to watch as things things shift around the floor and find new homes.  It is a pleasant puzzle of goodies.

round, big and delicate all at the same time

And in the pipeline are more pillows (black/grey, and pink/orange combos) more wool rugs, and some floor lamps we can't wait to see.  In the meantime here are a few new bits. Some round, some shiny, some soft.

a dash of rosemary

Cruising around Pinterest I found this image of a fabulous kitchen in Rosemary Beach.  It is light, bright and visually interesting ... not a lot of clutter. I love the giant windows in place of cupboards.

Upon further digging I found the MLS listing and other images on the blog

I continued to fall further in love with the place and started seeing many things we carry in canvas interiors.  It is exciting to see these things staged in a beautiful home.  It embodies canvas style to a T.  Light, bright, airy and comfortable. Not a lot of fuss, but plenty of beauty and luxury.

At first I thought this home might be available to rent and got all excited.  Then I read that Beach Bright's Mom might have purchased it.  Lucky lady!
 Looks like home to me.

spring has almost sprung...

Spring is fast approaching here in FLA.  So while we are still a little chilly and clinging to our last days of sweaters and riding boots, I can start to imagine the feel of a floaty dress.

I have two 'go-to's for slightly fancy dresses.  Although some might find BCBG a tad pedestrian, I love it.  I always find something special, the line fits me well and most importantly - I feel good wearing it.  You have to edit the throngs of dresses they make to find the gems, but I always find just the right thing.  And the runway collection (below) is beautiful.

Loving the relaxed silhouette and neck lines of these...

I think the blue maxi needs to come with me on our next trip to Harbour Island.

And on a side note, why don't these girls smile? Even just a little.
This aspect of the runway always cracks me up.

My other go - to for comfort is Adam.  I love his spring looks and if I am going to do any trend this spring I'm thinking it will be flowers.  I am drawn to the big plump ones seen below.  I am also loving the black bird dress for its knee-length simple chic vibe.

happy shopping!

let there be white

Tine K Home has been on my radar for a few months.  It is a very cool home decor line that has been catching my eye as a fit for canvas interiors.  I came across this first image and started digging.  I'm guessing you may have seen it, and/or her home but if not, this is it...  It is on the island of Funen in Denmark.  Built in 1834, Tine Kjeldsen and her husband spent 6 years renovating it to perfection.

It is a beautiful example of how to mix a white backdrop with eclectic treasures, warm woods, texture and contrast.   She has an amazing eye for the beauty of white and all that can be done when you start with a simple canvas.

The space glows with freshness.  If you look for images of her home, you see how she moves things around for a new look. You will see some differences between the images above, and the ones I reference below.  Another benefit of keeping things simple... you can have a whimsical moment and move the sofa to a different wall, grab a new pillow color and presto-chango. New vibe.

You can see more of her fabulous home in the current issue of EST magazine

full circle: Omega Too

I am lucky enough to have a bunch of really talented creative friends.  Art directors, designers, photographers, writers. I love it when these friends circle back through my life in unexpected and inspiring ways.

I first met Mark and Vanessa Bell when Mark and I worked together in San Francisco Ad Land.  Since then we have both moved to other ad jobs, other cities and eventually other creative adventures.  They moved back to the Bay Area years ago and are the creative duo behind Omega Too.

this industrial farmhouse inspired birdcage light is a one of a kind

Fast forward... I stopped by a friend's house in Winter Park (FLA). She has just finished building a fabulous new house that is filled with treasures she has salvaged from a Chicago salvage yard.  Beautiful old doors, stained glass windows and other unique finds.

It hit me like a ton of Chicago brick - these two people need to connect!  I knew she would love Mark and Vanessa's eye for collecting vintage things and making one of a kind custom lighting.  They are extremely creative and hands on people.  Mark makes magic out of reclaimed items and Vanessa's lighting design is beautiful.

Here are a few more of my favorites from Mark and Vanessa Bell's amazing world of unique lighting....

made from found vintage heaters
and old holophane square shades

made from salvaged old heater coils,
motorcycle gears and a vintage shade

They also do custom iron curtain rods, beautiful custom wooden doors
and of course the amazing lights.

You can read more about Mark & Vanessa here (they are really nice) and find them on Facebook here.

If you are looking for something unique with a vintage story, Omega Too should be your first stop.

thursday at canvas

It has been a few weeks since the opening party.  Since then we have had old and new friends stopping by, lots of happy feedback and quite a few people finding treasures for their homes from pillows to dining tables.

We are very humbled and excited about the positive feedback.  We can't say enough how much we feel the support and how much we appreciate it.

Here are a few more things that got unpacked recently. When I walked in the door the other day the space felt lived in, cozy and smelled great - the Voluspa candles make my day.

the design 'studio'... pull up a chair and get inspired

love this new giant chandelier

this floor mirror has a great presence - big yet not too chunky

Voluspa Laguna - takes you to the beach

This nesting table is beautiful and functional
it adds texture to the simple white sofas, as does the rug

It will be a great week next week with new things arriving.  With each new piece unpacked,
it is shaping up to be just as we hoped... a comfortable and welcoming space
where you can refresh your imagination.
